JAVI was born in 1989 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and started his artistic journey with a guitar in one hand and a can of spray paint in the other. As a high school student, he captivated his classmates with inspirational graffiti on school walls and took on projects painting children's rooms and designing unique signs for local businesses.
Initially pursuing a career in music at the Inter-American University in San Juan, JAVI quickly discovered a stronger passion for painting with acrylics. This newfound passion allowed him to creatively barter for necessities, from doctor visits to acquiring a bicycle, proving that art can be a versatile medium of exchange. This rewarding experience led him to shift his academic focus, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Design and Graphic Arts with a minor in Music.
In 2016, JAVI moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, in search of new opportunities. His vibrant artwork soon gained recognition within the local artist community, becoming a beloved fixture in homes and businesses throughout the area. Despite adapting to his new environment, JAVI remains deeply connected to his Puerto Rican roots and frequently undertakes special projects for his hometown.
Now living in Phoenix with his wife and daughter, JAVI paints with oil on canvas, blending diverse influences and experiences to craft his unique style. His current work centers on capturing the essence of the American West with a contemporary twist, bringing depth and creativity to its landscapes and figures.
Arena is a sweet and strong Pitbull. Every time I visit this family she is always waiting at the front door to say hi. She protects a family of four and who ever visits them. She's always listening and focused on her commands. Knowing that Arena is so important to this family I found inspiration to make this painting of her and name it "RESPECT"
Emmanuel"PULPO" (which means Octopus in Spanish) is a Professional Baseball player for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Most of the time when he makes a good play he looks at the sky and points, referring to God who he feels is always with him. That inspired me to make this painting and name it "BLESSED"
