Born in 1989 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, JAVI's foray into the art world began with a guitar and a can of spray paint. During high school, he inspired his peers by decorating the school walls with motivational graffiti. Apart from school projects, he also painted children's rooms and crafted unique signs for local businesses. After high school, JAVI enrolled at the Inter-American University in San Juan, intending to pursue music. However, life had other plans. Between his music studies, he used acrylic painting to meet his basic needs and often bartered his artworks for essential services and goods. From trading a painting for a doctor's appointment to acquiring a bicycle, JAVI’s art became a unique form of currency. The peace and fulfillment from these exchanges led him to shift his academic focus, ultimately earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Design and Graphic Arts with a minor in Music.
In 2016, JAVI moved to Fountain Hills, Arizona, seeking new creative avenues. Settling in Arizona reinvigorated his artistic journey, as if an internal voice insisted, "You need to paint." The landscapes of Arizona and the Western art museums began to inspire him profoundly, creating a natural sense of belonging. He quickly became a welcome presence in the local artist community, and his captivating artworks now embellish numerous homes and businesses throughout the valley.
JAVI's creative process is inspired by an acute observation of everyday beauty. Whether it's plants, animals, people, or shapes, he captures anything that evokes an emotion or memory. A frequent museum-goer and admirer of pop art, instrumental beats, Arizona landscapes, and Western art, JAVI also finds inspiration in personal experiences and memories. His extensive body of work defies singular stylistic classification but features a distinctive red dot in the top right corner—a signature that helps viewers recognize his creations. This identifiable mark ties together his diverse collection and underscores the unique perspective JAVI brings to his art.
Over the years, JAVI has gained notoriety by winning several contests for designing marketing materials, posters, Christmas cards, and unique pieces of furniture. His artwork mirrors the multitude of individual influences and experiences that have shaped his life while advocating for the vital role of art in society.
JAVI's career aspirations remain as fluid and expansive as his artistic style. Currently, he is an emerging artist focusing on Western art, dedicating himself to oil and acrylic painting as he hones his skills, aiming to transition into a full-time art career.
Arena is a sweet and strong Pitbull. Every time I visit this family she is always waiting at the front door to say hi. She protects a family of four and who ever visits them. She's always listening and focused on her commands. Knowing that Arena is so important to this family I found inspiration to make this painting of her and name it "RESPECT"
Emmanuel"PULPO" (which means Octopus in Spanish) is a Professional Baseball player for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Most of the time when he makes a good play he looks at the sky and points, referring to God who he feels is always with him. That inspired me to make this painting and name it "BLESSED"
